Another day in memories ...

On 15th  of march 2012  we a group of NSS volunteers attended a special camp at Chandanpally, Nalgonda. It was organised by our college and Lion's club members helped in gathering the community at one place.
Deworming day was also observed on the same day.
'
We started at 9:30 AM by bus and reached the place by 11. We were cordially received by the people there. After inauguration we split into three groups. One group stayed back at the health camp and helped the interns. They had an opportunity to interact with the old people who came there . They helped them understand the prescriptions given to them and also took them to our professors if they had doubts about  further referral.

The other two groups set off to an Anganwadi nearby. We interacted with the children there taught them simple things like handwash etc. There we learnt about variou services provided at anganwadi for antenatal women and children below 5 years from a teacher.

We were then accompanied by the Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) and ANM nurse in our door to door health campaign.
We  then met a few antenatal and postnatal women at their respective houses and interacted with them.We asked them about practises of antenatal and postnatal prevalent in that place and tried them educating about certain things like breast feeding, Growthchart, nutriton during pregnancy with the help of charts and models we took along with them.

We came across a woman with 9months gestation suffering from chicken pox.Sir explained her about hygeine during this illness and also we were told about what care is to be taken in such cases.
We then returned back to the main camp and were provided lunch by the lion's club members. We are grateful for their hospitality.

Now coming to my personal experiences I learnt a lot at this camp.I am actually very bad at interaction looking at my friends and how they spoke to people even I could make an attempt to talk with them.
It was altogether an exciting and educative experience and Iam happy to have been a part of it. I'd remember this forever in  my life as this was the first camp i attended and it brought a sort of change in me and my attitude towards people

THANKS NSS and THANKS to my COLLEGE...............
